    New Year, New Fashion!

The new year has come and it is already flying by!  Many of us set forth with our new goals and commitments, and revisit the old ones that need work.  It's super important to take care of bodies in every way that we can.  Whether its by eating healthier, getting in some more exercise, or simply feeling put together.
What makes you feel put together?  Is it hours of primping each morning with full hair and makeup, a cute top knot with some athleisure wear, or rocking some jeans with a hoodie and pony.  Whatever it is, do it.  Don't feel bad if you're not dressed up like other moms in the school drop off line.  Don't look down to other moms still in their pajamas in that same line.  We all live different lives and have different stories.  But, what we should all be is strong, confident women.  If pajamas are your jam, rock them, and check out ours because we sure do have some cute ones!
As Sofi Stella has expanded over the years, it has allowed us to carry more and make sure we have something that caters to all styles. We bring in a lot of basic pieces because basics are our staple pieces. They are intended to be worn as is or dressed up more for those who like to take it to the next level.  So you don't feel like getting dressed one day and want to be comfortable. Throw on a basic tunic, some nice leggings, add a cute top knot with a little mascara, and you are dressed up with hardly any effort.  When you're feeling bold and edgy grab a pair of distressed skinnies with a button up or leather jacket, add a scarf or a beanie with a cute pair of Converse and you're good to go. When you have bed head and need to be ready in a flash, a beanie is you're best friend (along with dry shampoo)!  If you need to be ready for work or a little more classy for the day, a simple dress, a statement necklace and some heels will do the trick.  I love the challenge of putting multiple pieces together and mixing prints and patterns but this can be frightening to some.  Dresses, jumpsuits, and rompers are easy go to pieces that do not require much else but some simple jewelry.
My point is, you don't need to be a fashionista to be fabulous or look fabulous. You just need a store that carries a variety of options that suits your style and needs.  If you need help, ask!  We love to help our customers find what they're looking for.  That's the beauty of a boutique.  We aren't here to hound you and pounce on you as soon as you enter the store. We truly want to help you if you need it and we enjoy you as a customer and helping you get exactly what you're looking for.
If you haven't attended one of our fashion shows then what are you waiting for?  Our shows consist of everything we bring in store, from basic to the extreme.  Our Girls Night Out Spring Fashion Show is happening on March 24th and will be featuring some amazing new styles for spring as well as resort attire!  Tickets to the event go on sale this Saturday, January 21st at 10am and you will want to book fast as our events sell out quickly.  Grab a friend or two, get your tickets, and come enjoy a fun night out with the girls.  Our shows feature over 100 new items and are ready for you to shop immediately after. Be the first to get your hands on that stellar spring dress or awesome new vest you see featured!
Make this year a year to remember and one that you have tackled with all your might.  When you fall down, get back up and keep going. Be strong, be confident, and always stay true to YOU!

    This will be my year…

New Year’s Eve is a few short days away. What are your plans to celebrate? Whether you’re going out or staying in, why not boost your style a bit with something new. From casual to dressy we have got you covered.

Sequins, lace, and fur...oh my! These are all fabulous choices for your holiday event. Cozy up in gorgeous, warm fur if you plan to be outside a lot. Let that disco ball hit your sequin skirt and reflect lights all over the dance floor. Sip champagne into the midnight hour hugged in a stunning lace dress. A jumpsuit makes for easy styling. Throw on a stunning pair of statement earrings, add a fierce clutch and you're set to hit the town. If you plan to stay in then keep it casual and cozy in a sweater or poncho thrown over a pair of leggings. We have all of these items in store and are running some great deals this week to get you NYE ready!

What are your commitments and resolutions for 2017? Have you written them down? Have you even thought about them yet? It’s a good time to start reflecting on 2016 and setting forth some goals for the new year. Think about your wants, needs, hopes, desires and what you will do to reach your goals and make your dreams come true. We don't have to go it alone. Support and encouragement from friends and loved ones is a tremendous blessing and can help us in our great achievements. What will make 2017 your year?

Health is always a number one concern for many. It's always a good choice to eat healthy and get in some exercise, but equally important to have our indulgences from time to time. What's life if we're not living! Perhaps you’re looking to change careers, go back to school, move to a new city, buy a house, get married, budget, invest…the list goes on. For me, I have some commitments from 2016 that I need to continue to work on in 2017, and that’s ok. So my list begins there and after some deep reflection over the past year, I have other things to add. This list is not complete. I can add to it at any time. Once I reach a goal, it doesn’t mean that’s the end. Many of the things we desire take time and is a continued process over time. Be strong, stay driven, and keep positive. Your path awaits you, don't be afraid to go after it. This will be your year...are you ready?

Thank you for another successful year of business. We couldn't do it without your love and support. We are anticipating another fabulous year of exciting fashion that we can't wait to share with you. Many blessings and lots of love to you and yours, and cheers to 2017!

Mad for Plaid! Plaid is and always has been all the rage. Each year it seems to get bigger and bigger. I'm sure designers are constantly thinking, what else can we make plaid? When I see plaid, I think of fall which heads into winter and the holidays. It's the easiest way to bring a little cheer into your wardrobe and will always be a staple piece. A simple plaid button down can be paired so many different ways. Start with your top all by itself. You can start layering over it with vests, cardigans, sweaters, and jackets. You can add accessories such as scarves, statement necklaces, or add a beanie. Longer shirts go great with leggings, while shorter styles look fabulous with denim, especially skinny jeans. Tuck it in and add a leopard skinny belt or throw over a blazer for some work style flow. Another great idea is to throw a plaid shirt over a cool graphic tee. Tucking a plaid top into a fluffy, tulle skirt will give it some flare and be something unexpected. A great way to take a warm weather dress into cooler temps is by throwing a plaid top over it and tying it in a knot in front. You could also leave it unbuttoned, using your top as a jacket. I find it very exciting to mix patterns when it comes to plaid. Plaid with stripes, plaid with polka dots, and plaid with leopard are always huge hits. The world of plaid is all around us. We are seeing tops with plaid sleeves and sequined elbow patches, plaid vests, plaid dresses, plaid scarves, plaid cups, plaid blankets.....the list goes on and on. It's a pattern and print you simply cannot go wrong with. We have so much in stock with new arrivals constantly coming in store. Let us help you get styled for the holidays. Don't forget that everything online is always in store and most items sell out quickly. Order online for in store pickup or free shipping on orders over $75. Grab something for yourself or a loved one, and be sure to turn heads this season rocking your amazing plaid! Tag us on Instagram or Facebook for a chance to be featured. We love to see what our customers put together!

Thanksgiving is quickly approaching and we know what you're thinking...what will you wear? Oh yeah, and food, food too! But let's be real, we attend festivities in all ranges from fancy to completely casual. Whether you're hosting or attending, let's get you styled and ready to go. If you plan to lounge around and eat massive amounts of turkey and mashed potatoes all day, then something super easy and stretchy is the way to go. A great pair of leggings, printed or plain, with a flowy tunic or sweater is the perfect option. You can always dress the look up a tad with some simple accessories.

Comfort is great for lounging around all day and perusing the internet for Black Friday Deals. If you're looking to step it up a notch, grab an breezy dress you can layer for added warmth. Our Knit Floral looks great with a pair of booties and requires minimal accessories. Our sleeveless green knit dress pairs well with a jacket or cardi and you can even add some leggings to cover up bare legs.

We have several other sweater dresses and tunic dresses to choose from. Be sure to check them out! Our Burgundy Corduroy Dress or Red Lace Romper will give you a little extra spice and bring the colors of autumn to your festive fall gathering. Our open shoulder blouses are super trendy and super cute too. They look great with jeans or slacks, and even tucked into a high waisted skirt. Formal wear isn't just for Christmas this year. Take your Thanksgiving look to the next level with a little tulle and a lot of lace! Our lace dresses and gorgeous lace jumpsuit will have heads turning this season! Wear it again to that winter wedding or upcoming holiday parties. Our Deep Red Leather skirt is another perfect option to enjoy this Thanksgiving in style. There is so much in store and online that I am confident we can get you dressed and ready to go. Layering is great. It's chilly outside, but that hot oven may require you to peel some layers off and on throughout the day. Don't forget to add some of our lovely home decor items to your big day! Head one post back to see more. What are you thankful for this season?

We have so much to be thankful for and are super blessed each and every day. From all of us at Sofi Stella, we thank YOU!

Help make your Elf's entrance more grand this year with our adorable Elf door!  Each night as he or she reports to Santa, they can easily enter and exit through this magic gateway to the North Pole!
Are you looking to change up your decorations this year?  Check out our new stockings, stocking holders, and throw pillows.  I love gold and it's been super trendy the last couple years.  Spice things up with a little extra gold or even some tradition plaid this year.  Complete your party table with our ice buckets and burlap table runner.  Your home style is sure to be the talk of the neighborhood.

Our festive tote bags are so adorable, I have already snagged one for myself.  I'm looking forward to stuffing it with food and gifts as I travel around this season.  In fact, I plan to give some as gifts, stocking them with the fabulous decor I have already mentioned and some wonderful candles for friends and family.  Forget wrapping, shop our home items or our fabulous clothing lines and simply place the items directly in the tote!  We would love to tie the handles together with a big, beautiful bow.  Just add a gift tag and you're set.  Not sure what to pick out for that special person?  Let us stuff a tote with tissue paper and stick a Sofi Stella gift card in the middle!

It’s our birthday and we want to celebrate with you!  After 8, successful years of doing business in the town of Monroe, Sofi Stella has done nothing short of continuing to grow, year after year.  When you are determined, amazing things can happen.  Without the support of our customers, we wouldn’t be where we are today, and for that, we thank you!

Miss Josephine Archer has always had a passion for clothing and fashion.  As a child, she would often sketch clothing and dream of becoming a fashion designer someday.  Her sense of style and keen eye for fashion drove her to open her own boutique, Sofi Stella, in October of 2008, which was debuted as Monroe’s only children’s boutique.  The store first opened as just a children’s clothing and accessory store.  After just two years in business, Josephine decided to take a chance and began carrying women’s apparel.   Josephine felt that the moms shopping in the boutique would love to have an upscale place to shop for themselves as well.  She was right!  Josephine introduced women's contemporary fashion to Sofi Stella in 2010, offering classy, trendy, yet affordable clothing for women.  Since then, the store has held 2 expansions in its current location.  The most recent addition, a 700 square foot space for their women's department!

Sofi Stella is much more than just a clothing store.  From apparel, accessories, toys, home décor and more, Sofi Stella has always been driven to be your one stop shop.  We strive to bring in unique offerings to the shop and listen to customer feedback, making sure we carry something for everyone.  We also plan exciting events for our customers, such as VIP shopping night and amazing fashion shows throughout the year.  At Sofi Stella, we take pride in contributing for our community with various fundraisers as well.
Sofi Stella is a place built on faith.  The store opened at one of worst economic times that we as a country were facing.  Josephine rest assured knowing that if it was God’s plan for Sofi Stella to succeed, then it would.  8 years later our faith is still in God’s plan and as long as it's His will for us to be here then we will continue our journey and dedication to do so.
We want to thank all of those in the community for their continued support over the years.  Your loyalty and patronage is greatly appreciated.  We hope to serve you for many years to come!

My favorite time of year to wear dresses is in the fall.  A dress is an easy transition into the fall season from summer.  Right now, many dresses are on sale and even clearance so don't be afraid to grab some at low prices.  You can still wear them now and you're one step ahead for some resort wear if you have those tropical winter vacations planned!

The easiest thing to do is add layers to your dresses.  A denim jacket is super simple and goes with everything.  Pair a leather bomber with something floral to add a little edge.  I love to throw a printed kimono over a plain dress for some great layering and a distinct look.  You can take a cute chunky sweater or even something lightweight and throw it on right over your dress.  I did this recently and it's a look I'll be rocking this fall!  Adding a blanket scarf makes a great layer piece and something you can peel off later in the day if it gets too warm, just like all the other options. Everything mentioned is intended to help you in the cooler mornings, to the warm afternoons, and then back to the evening when temps drop back down.

Rather than layering over your dress, think about ways to layer under the dress.  A silk blouse or button up can be worn underneath your dress.  This option is very feminine and chic.  Add in accessories to complete the look and complement your style.

What's on your feet?  That depends a little on the length of the dress for one, and two, the weather.  I love a peep toe bootie this time of year.  Its goes with every length, long or short.  If your dress is on the shorter side and you're looking to add some warmth, then go with a tall boot or the super stylish over the knee boot.  An OTK boot should be a staple in your closet!  If you're feeling more casual, it is definitely ok to throw on a great pair of sneakers.  An all black or all white sneak is super in right now or just throw on a pair of Converse and you're set.
Do not shy away from purchasing dresses right now.  There are so many easy and fun ways to layer over or under (did I mention tights and leggings?!) to keep you warm and feeling styled. Stop in or shop online to see what options we have in store for you.  Fall arrivals come in every day!

I'm going to get personal...about denim. That's right!  Raise your hand if you struggle to find a great pair of jeans, because this girl does.  For years I would shop at the mall in a couple select stores that I knew wouldn't let me down.  That is until, I hit the register.  Over the last few years styles have changed from the low rise to the mid rise, to the high rise.  While I love to cover up all that mom business going on, it's nice to breathe at the end of the day too.  I have gone through countless pairs that have held me in a little too tight and often end my day with a belly ache. Who wants that?

Denim should fit like a glove.  Not too tight, but not too loose. The worst is wearing a pair for a couple hours only to discover you're now dealing with the hassle of pulling them up constantly because they have stretched far too much. Saggy, baggy, or overall too tight, just doesn't cut it in my book.
Have you tried our boutique jeans? I'm going to rave about them, not because I have to, but because I want to.  And if you haven't tried on a pair yet, what are you waiting for?  The styles are true to size.  And if anything, I've been able to size down on a good day...I said good day! But really, the rise is right where it should be, hugging, not cinching your waist. The length is good for any height because if you're tall, they'll work.  If you're short, roll them up (it's the style). If you're average, do nothing, tuck them in your boots and call it a day.  I have owned a pair of our boutique jeans for over a year now.  I don't wash them every time but I do wash them often.  I do nothing special. I wash on normal and dry until they're dry.  Sometimes I worry when I put them on that I shrunk them or that I'll never pull these up today.  As soon as they're on, they're on and fit like a glove...as they should.  I've never been so impressed by a pair of jeans.
I'm not gonna lie, I do have a beautiful pair of designer jeans. I thought I never felt denim so soft, in fact, I thought they were made for me.  SO I splurged. Now, I have remorse.  They stretch out way too much after only one wearing. I worry about if I should have sized down and furthermore, it pains me what I paid.

Where can you get a fabulous pair of denim for under $100?  Right here at Sofi Stella, of course!  We have a couple different washes of skinny and recently introduced the distressed look at our fashion show for fall.  You seriously have to try them!  Shop online or in store today. You will not be disappointed, and you can thank us later!

You always need the basics- underwear, socks, and undershirts. That's a given.  Let's talk about outfits and clothing.  The first thing I like to do is clean out everyone's closet.  We make a pile to consign and a pile to donate.  Once we have decluttered the closet and drawers, I can see what we are working with.  I know what pieces can get them started and what still fits from last year.  This goes for shoes as well.  With little ones, their fall shoes from last year are probably too small now, and flip flops don't bode well on the playground.
Now that you know what you have, make a list by figuring out what you need.  I suggest a couple pair of pants (any combo of jeans, leggings, joggers, etc) to get started.  I like a couple new shirts that have short sleeves but are not a summer style top.  Items that are cute for fall and look great under sweaters and cardis for layering.  (Kids need to layer too!)  Additionally, I like to look for a couple tops with long sleeves.  A great new hoodie, sweatshirt, or fall jacket is another great way to layer.  It starts to get chilly in the morning but the temps are still warm in the afternoon when school starts.
Sofi Stella has some wonderful new arrivals.  One quick stop and you will be all set. Leggings are hands down the easiest thing for gals to wear and we have so many colors and prints that are super soft and comfy at great prices.  These can be paired with our wide selection of tops, including tunics that go well with leggings.
If you have missed some of the new arrivals in our feed, then head over to our What's New Girls tab and check them out.  We have more arriving in store everyday.  Don't forget to complete the outfit for your Little Miss by adding bows and headbands.  We have a large variety and election of hair pieces to match anything you pick.
Lastly, I want to encourage you to take this time in the next few weeks to really enjoy the final weeks before school starts as a family.  Hit the movies, the water park, the lake, enjoy a picnic, go get ice cream, take a bike ride...you get the idea.  We have been running all summer and the chaos of school and activities is soon approaching.  Slow down for a minute, count your blessings, give thanks and praise, and make some new memories.

Aside from carrying fabulous clothing, Sofi Stella also offers a variety of accessories.  Our Lilly Pulitzer items are some of our faves!  Accessories add extra detail to our daily style, especially on days we like to be casual and keep it simple.  The right pop of color or print can add that little something extra to brighten up our day.

I simply adore the tumblers in stock.  I have two myself and I use them constantly. We have two styles available for your hot or cold beverage.  I love filling mine with iced cold water and fresh lemons or making a refreshing adult spritzer with wine and sparkling soda for patio nights!

A headband is any way to style your hair, especially on those days when we aren't really "feelin it".  A fun printed headband perfectly adds character to a pony or topknot.  If headbands aren't for you, then I recommend our Lilly earbuds.  How fabulously styled will you look at the gym in a pair or sitting around the coffee shop?
The agendas and notebooks are our best selling items.  With school right around the corner, how fun would it be to head back in style?  Show up at the office with some pizzazz?  If you're my age, you probably had a Trapper Keeper in grade school...and the best part of those were the prints and colors.  Some things don't change you guys, and we all know styles and items have a way of coming back around.  Note-taking and calendar planning is always better in style.
Jot your grocery list down on Lilly paper, sign your checks with a Lilly pen, or rest your head upon a Lilly pillow.  (Yes, we have pillows too!)  Treat yourself or a friend.  Lilly items make great gifts for birthdays, showers, thank you's, really anything.  Get to Sofi Stella and get yourself organized with Lilly.  Make each day a great day, a blessed day, and make it Lilly day!
